Packer and adidas have turned back the clock to bring the element of surprise back into the sneaker purchase experience.
Thanks to the internet and social media, we’ve never been more in the know about the shoes we love. Our timelines and feeds are chock full of what shoes are coming out, when they release, where we can buy them, etc. It’s a great time to be alive, but there’s something to be said about that long forgotten feeling of walking into a store and falling in love with a pair of shoes you never knew existed.
Packer was around for that era, and we've missed seeing that look on a customer’s face when they look up at the wall and light up with excitement over discovering something brand new to them.
We wanted to bring that warm, fuzzy feeling back with the release of the Packer x adidas UltraBoost OG — a shoe that pays homage to the introduction of one of the most important models of the new millennium. Designed to be a performance running shoe, the UltraBoost took the entire sneaker market by complete surprise as it crossed over to become an iconic cultural staple of the mid 2010's.
We took components of the three leadoff UltraBoost colorways that first kicked off the phenomenon back in 2015 and combined them into one shoe — true to the colors, materials and knit patterns of the original. adidas produced only 500 pairs and we put them on our store shelves and website this past Friday with no warning.
Not the typical way of rolling out a sneaker collaboration in this day and age, but a little shake up seems to be just what the game needs right now.
The shoe has already sold out. For all those who got their pair, we hope it was as much fun for you as it was for us.
