Back in 2015, Packer teamed up with rap legend, Raekwon, and Italian footwear specialists, Diadora, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Chef's classic solo debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. The result of that partnership was, of course, the “Purple Tape” N.9000, but at the time, we also created a second colorway inspired by the album’s cover.
It was decided that we’d let the purple shoe stand alone, and the only “Cuban Linx” sample pair in existence was given to Raekwon, who wore them onstage during the SOB's performance that followed the shoe release.
Since then, the 1 of 1 has been under glaciers of ice in Rae’s possession, but with 2020 being the 25th anniversary of the album as well as the 30th anniversary of the N.9000 model, we reunited to resurrect a shoe none of us ever thought would release to the public.
From a distance, most aspects of the 2020 edition were carried directly over from the original, but there have been a few material updates like ostrich leather and pony hair accents to incorporate the type of fly international luxuriousness you’d only expect from The Chef.
Available 11am EST Wednesday, December 23rd only @ PackerShoes.com ($250).
