LETS DO BETTER
America’s past time is changing rapidly. In 2020, just 8.2% of Players on MLB Opening Day rosters were black, marking a low point of a steady decline that began in the late 90’s. Learning this made the people at Let’s Do Better wonder: What happened? The brand dove deep in the investigation of this unfortunate trend to answer that question in full.
To tell this story, LDB created an All-Star studded t-shirt presenting some of the greatest Black players to have ever graced an MLB Diamond. “The East-West Game All-Stars”, the name of the Negro League Annual All-Star game held from 1920 - 1950, also graces the front.
In support of the cause, Packer is offering a limited re-release of Let's Do Better's Juneteenth New New York 59FIFTY Fitted featuring David Hammon’s African Flag, which represents progression and solidarity in the movement toward equality for Black diaspora in America.
Like their projects before it, a portion of proceeds from this release will be used to make an impact in the immediate community. This time, LDB is donating the proceeds from this project to support the ambitions of The Bedstuy Sluggers Little League.
The mission of The Bedstuy Sluggers League is to develop and provide an environment for the youth in the community of Bedford Stuyvesant and its surrounding neighborhoods an enjoyable safe, team-oriented experience, while learning the game of baseball. BSS is committed to teaching the community youth the life lessons through good sportsmanship and teamwork.
