In celebration of the return of the iconic Air Trainer 1 “Chlorophyll”, Nike SNKRS stopped by the shop to talk “Behind the Design” with owner, Mike Packer, who shares some memories and anecdotes about one of his favorite silhouettes. As a shoe that was inspired by Hatfield's idea for a model that could work in the gym and on multiple outdoor surfaces, the Air Trainer 1 essentially introduced a new genre: the cross-trainer. Famously worn by tennis star John McEnroe, the shoe performed well at the highest levels and it became an instant classic. The exact retro hits the shelves again with the design that made it an international success.
